As stated on their website, Tongdam is not just a restaurant- it is an experience. They speak no word of a lie. Hidden in the streets of Dulverton, Tongdam Thai was a golden find from an internet search for us. This calm and cosy restaurant offers a home to home atmosphere with an authentic Thai zing. Tongdam, is a Thai restaurant and takeaway with an onsite Bed and Breakfast.
We visited the restaurant on a bustling Tuesday evening. After battling to narrow down our choice from a menu- that can spark tastebuds with words alone- we opted for a mixed platter of Thai appetizers to start, which was then successfully followed by a fresh Thai Green Curry and a vibrant Duck House Special Dish bursting with exotic fruit and spices.
The service was faultless- the waiters, dressed in traditional Thai clothing (which the restaurant also makes to sell) could not have been more helpful or on the ball. Our every need was met. We were made most welcome.
For those visiting on a warmer Summer’s eve, the Eastern flavours could only be enhanced by the grapevine covered outside decking seating area. For certain, an experience not to be missed.If the restaurant standards are anything to go by, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay in the Tongdam Bed and Breakfast. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone- it is certainly worth the trip out.
Tongdam Thai is open Monday to Sunday.
Lunch: 12pm-3pm
Dinner: 6pm- with last orders at 10.30pm
